Cathy inspired Deanna to start her health and wellness blog, so they begin by giving a brief backstory on how that happened before getting into reinvention.
We hear that many women Deanna coaches struggle with determining what’s next in life when their children finally leave home. Cathy recalls this feeling especially when her last child left and talks about the identity that comes with being a stay-at-home mom. The two talk about how this stage of life is both scary and exciting.
Just after starting her blog, Cathy was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had originally wanted to stop doing her blog when she got this news, but she shares the story of why she decided to continue writing. Cathy has since recovered and expresses how thankful she is for overcoming cancer.
Deanna became a Pure Barre teacher at age forty-five and remembers thinking that she was too old to do so. This inspires Cathy to explain why thinking you’re too old to do something is the wrong mindset to have. She says that women are finally coming into their own in their midlife and that it’s great to keep your mind busy.
Cathy talks about a time when she started feeling like she was chosen to make a difference with other women who are going through cancer. To finish today’s episode, Deanna asks what advice Cathy would give to her younger self.
