Instagram has connected me to some amazing women on a similar path to me and today I have one of these women on, Lisa King. Lisa and I have so much in common! We’re the same age, our husbands have the same name, we have 3 boys, our granddaughters are the same age and we both coach women on aging well. On today’s episode we are talking about her journey healing from bladder issues, menopause and meditation.
We both agree there are conversations we never had about menopause side effects and we want to change that. As we speak up about these issues we want to educate and normalize menopause for women who are approaching that season of life. Lisa shares about her healing journey with interstitial cystitis or painful bladder disorder. It can be a topic that can cause shame and embarrassment but in telling her story, Lisa is able to be a beacon of hope for women who are experiencing the same. In everything she does, Lisa wants to remind women they are not alone.
We also talk about a powerful little book Lisa and her sister wrote. As her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 35, Lisa was going through a difficult time in the downturn of 2008. Both of them dove into self development at the time, reading and journaling to process the challenges they were faced with. Through that experience the two of them wrote a book together about things they learned from their journeys. The book is called Tiny Life Changes, a simple book filled with reminders on how to stay on track and why a healthy mind is important to the healing process. When we can shift our mindset towards thoughts that better serve us we often heal better.
This conversation with Lisa was is rich and life giving. If you need to be encouraged on your journey with bladder issues, menopause and meditation give this one a listen.
