Spring Break is here and if you are going somewhere warm what swimwear do you take? This can make some of us cringe if we have poor body image or low self-confidence.
Do you take a one-piece suit or a two piece? Or maybe even avoid a swimsuit altogether.
Body Image And Self-Confidence
Bathing suits can be very tough for some people to even think about much less put on. If you don’t feel good about yourself for whatever reason, you will probably avoid a bathing suit at all cost.
I have never been overweight but I have felt uncomfortable in my bathing suit before. After I got married, almost 4 years ago, I started putting on a little weight. It wasn’t much but when you are short 10 pounds can be a lot. Last summer, we were on vacation and I remember being so uncomfortable with my body that I didn’t even want to put on my bathing suit and go to the pool.
It was then that I realized I better get a hold of this or I was going to miss out on some things. I decided to make some changes in my diet. You can read about it here. If you want to work on shedding some weight here is a free meditation that starts today.
But if for some reason I couldn’t have made those changes, I would have had to figure out another way to be happy with my body. I think we are all very hard on ourselves and have distorted views of our selves.
When I meet someone the thing I am attracted to the most is their self-confidence. Self-confidence comes from within. We have to love ourselves or no one else will. Self-confidence is defined as a feeling of trust in one’s abilities, qualities, and judgments.
Do you lack self-confidence? Here is a great article on building your self-confidence. Don’t miss out on things because you don’t like something about yourself. Either try to change it or embrace it. Number one love yourself and it will reflect overall in everything you do.
Bikini vs. One Piece
I have always felt like I looked better in a bikini than in a one piece even when I was a little heavier. Although, this year I did find a one piece that I do like. Stripes are in right now and even better they make me look taller.
When I was younger I was 5’3″ but as I have gotten older I have gotten a little shorter like 5’2″. I think that is one of the reasons I like a bikini over a one-piece bathing suit.
Here are some of my favorite beachwear for Spring Break:
