My Girlfriend Getaway to New York City

Girlfriend Getaway

Last month, I had so much fun traveling with three of my girlfriends to NYC on our girlfriend getaway.  We planned our trip several months ago around the Bruno Mars concert at Madison Square Garden. We all agreed it was a good thing we had scheduled so far in advance, not only were we able to secure great tickets for the concert, but we made the commitment to go. It seems like sometimes we are so busy that we don’t get to spend time with just our girlfriends. It gets put on the backburner and other things come up and we don’t make girlfriend time a priority.

When I travel, I like to travel as light as possible. In order to do that I must really think about what I am going to wear. I plan each day’s and night’s outfit out and try to incorporate the same shoes several times. I also usually stick with one or two colors to make it easier. I will always add one or two extra tops in case I change my mind.

I keep my toiletry bag packed and usually have mostly sample sizes so they don’t take up much room. My makeup consists of my Trish McEvoy planner that can be found at Gus Mayer. My curling iron is a necessity for me because I like my hair to have some wave in it.

It is nice to stay somewhere different than normal when you are with your girlfriends. We chose the Gansevoort hotel in the meatpacking district. Unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations. They are due for a renovation. I would not recommend staying here until they do. Fortunately, my husband was able to get us into our usual hotel The New York Palace. My favorite thing about The New York Palace, other than its location, is the west side view. You look right over Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. It is breathtaking. If you stay there be sure to request a west side view.

Other than having to change hotels, our trip was so much fun. The concert was one of the highlights. I felt like I was back in high school or college with my girlfriends. The only thing that might have been a little different is after the concert we went straight back to our hotel and went to bed.

Taking time for a girlfriend getaway can be like therapy to your soul. Everyone was laid back and no one had an agenda. We laughed, shopped, and ate. The weather could not have been better. We all agreed we needed to make this an annual event. Hopefully, we won’t let our lives take over and forget to make our trip a priority.

Where do you like to travel with your girlfriends? Have you scheduled a girlfriend getaway?
