Knowing the difference between being a fat burner and a sugar burner can make a difference in how you feel and look.  So how do you know if you are a fat burner or a sugar burner?

Most people are sugar burners meaning they get their energy from carbohydrates.  Because all carbs turn into sugar in your body.

How do you know if you are a sugar burner?  4 Questions to ask yourself.

  1. Are you hungry every few hours?
  2. Are you tired and cranky if you miss your afternoon snack?
  3. Do you struggle with belly fat?
  4. Do you crave carbs and sugar?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions you are probably a sugar burner.  So you are using glucose (sugar) for fuel.  This means your body has no reason to access your fat stores for fuel. It all has to do with your insulin levels.

Becoming A Fat Burner

  1. Can you go for prolonged periods of time without getting hungry?
  2. Are you losing the belly fat?
  3. Do you have more energy?
  4. Are your cravings reduced?

By now you have probably figured out it is better to be a fat burner than a sugar burner.  But how do we achieve this goal?  Cutting back on sugar is the number one way to help your body become a fat burner.  Like I said before carbs will turn into sugar in your body.  That doesn’t mean you have to eliminate ALL carbs.  We actually need some carbs for proper body functions.  Read my post here on Carbs Are Not The Enemy.

Combining an intermittent fasting and carb cycling lifestyle will enable you to become a fat burner.  Then when you pair that lifestyle up with the right exercises at the right time you become a pro-fat burner.  Of course,  you want to make sure your gut health is in check too.
